Tuesday April 23rd Training Ride
The Wheelsucker Report

It was another beautiful spring evening. Ace was not there which was a huge relief to most of the riders (Denzil, Pat, Eric and Jeff Chun are cool with chasing Ace, everyone else just suffers until they are dropped). Eric Boone WAS there, but he was behaving as he was saving himself for the weekend (Tour of Page County), but he was available to steadily chase down breaks. This was very useful because there were a few attacks from Denzil and two visiting riders, Chet and Matt. The group would let them go, confident that they would be brought back without having to make a huge effort, and Eric would do most of the work.

A significant portion of the group skipped the inner loop by going straight on Bayard, while the rest finished together.

While there were several non ABRTers on the ride, only one of the non ABRTers was wearing Bike Doctor kit, Jeff Chun. And Jeff was kind enough to let the Wheelsucker back into line at the top of a small climb.

The Wheelsucker had raced hard on Sunday and was planning to race again this coming weekend, so was content to minimize hard efforts, sit in when he could, and just make sure he was there at the end. Not wanting to go to the line with "Big D", Pat, Jeff and the two visitors (who were riding strong), the Wheelsucker jumped away at the penultimate dip and hammered up the road, getting dangerously close to the finish line before being caught. Just as he was caught the sprinters launched. Having nothing left the Wheelsucker soft pedaled for the line.

For those keeping score, tonight's podium was "Big D", Pat and Jeff.

Wheelsucker Data (from first crossing 214 to sitting up at the sprint):
1:07:27, 27.27 miles
223 watts, 901 maximum
92 rpm
24.29 mph
60 F
